The petal of this variety of Billbergia nutans (photo left), was found on a specimen from a population from the highest region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (1.180 m), close to the margin of Rio Silveira, inside the subtropical rain forest, in a very shady environment. Apparently this variety occupies an intermediary position between the varieties nutans and schimperiana, because the dark blue petal margins reaches almost nearly the apex and there isn't any vestige of whiskers. | |
